Its nice that the Lab started merging these things together, but to further inovation they need to make more API's like you mentioned. The most important of the API's we wish we had would be an account API. EVERYONE who is a major player in the consumer/business/social media world has these. Microsoft/ facebook/ google did it and it technically wouldn't be that hard to implement either. A simple API like this would make the lives of those of us trying to push the technologies presented in viewer 2+ to move the grid to a new stage of web enabled and low script in world devices. At least i know that API would save me weeks of time designing a method to update an avatars entire information library thou relay scripts and other third party API's.

I Also never used Avatars United, But i cannot and will not forgive them for that one. That was just a fiasco like no other. The social site was not just for second life, and if the Lab knew or possibly knew running it would not be fiscally valid in a few months then why buy it!... Unless of course it was bought due to some fancy technologies that were used to create it that later led to advancements inworld and on the official sites. But that we will never know.

[...] Linden Lab bought and Killed “Avatars United”, which was a pretty big social network for many Virtual Worlds and MMO’s, they also Just released web Profiles for Viewer 2 that Include Status Updates “Friends Suggestions”, which is some sort of a small Social Network that will probably kill the need of any other Network. (Check out my blog post on what It could potentially do to kill this market too) [...]

Thanks, maybe a JIRA wouldn't hurt on that, although I feel this things are imminent and that they are already on the works.

Glad to see you back pal, and of course your Wish List is awesome. Yes, that comes from me, even though I am using what you call a "griefer viewer" (Firestorm for those without a clue), lol. Regardless to the fact, it's Viewer 2 and I am glad that I finally made the switch from predated versions of the Second Life viewer. Honestly, the social network, if it were to include many or all of those aspects you suggested, it would have a great toll on other networks... we [avatars] walk in many numbers, so just think what could happen if most would finally come to adopt this.

You know that idea for postcards would totally rule. Same with groups. Hell its all good, the lab should pay you for your ideas. At least when you give suggestions they are actually suggestions unlike most of the comments being pasted on linden profiles lately.

Although this is a little different than traditional real estate sales you will likely need a good understanding of virtual real estate construction and predicting the potential profit of virtual real estate properties to make the most money.. They posses the unique skills and knowledge of virtual real estate construction that is needed to develop properties into such detailed and enormous creations that people are willing to pay top dollar for something that doesnt exist in reality. The kid who everyone thinks wont amount to anything has actually been honing his skills for this opportune moment when the virtual world becomes a lucrative playground.
