Drama?

Why people make such a big drama in SL?
I Was flying around my sim and a guy that was heavy armed was following me so he bumped me, his hud said something like “Alvi Halderman bumped you” so he started to tell my that why am i bumping him, when he was bumping me, so to avoid drama i tried to make him understand that he is bumping me, he started to get aggressive, and he said like “Say goodbye to your account because I’ll report you” when i should have reported him in the first place, so at the end of the day i banned, muted and reported him, of course he was a noob.
Stories like this happen daily without any reason, i saw the other day a very cool house on the mainland so i wanted to check out who the creator is, so i see the creator’s profile and his profile said like “ITS YOUR PROBLEM IF YOU LOOSE YOUR ITEMS” DON’T IM ME, the house was 17.000L$ and what you first know is that the builder is very unfriendly person.

Maybe this post sounds like drama, but it’s more like being sick of drama

Tips buying a Region in Second Life

First
You have to be sure what you want to do with the region, and plan what will happen once you buy the region, because, the tier is 295US$ a month, that means almost 3000L$ a day, so time is money!

  • If you want to sell land make a map before buying the region so you know what you want to do with the region.
  • If you want to make your main store, make sure you actually earn more than 295US$ a month, that means like 70.000L$, if you do, plan how will the store look etc., so it won’t take a lot of time to build the store.
  • If you want to make your house, better rent a region from a private estate and pay around 350US$ because you won’t always have an initial price like on a region bought from linden lab that costs 1000$.
  • If you are a nonprofit and you want to make a museum, check Linden Lab’s nonprofit fees, they’re lower than the normal once.
  • Check out Used regions, they go for 200-800$ So that might save you some money, and they are not really used, You get to choose where to have them and you get to rename them on the transfer

Second

Check sim owners that are selling they’re estate, not the sim, so you will have to pay tier to Linden Lab directly, not to him/her.

  • You may find regions at great prices, i’ve seen regions for 700, 600, 300 even free regions that people want to abandon and prefer to give the region away to someone who needs the region.
  • There’s nothing wrong buying a used region because when the region gets transfered to you you can change the location of the region and the name, be careful because the region transfer fee is 100US$ or 28,000L$, so there’s no point to buy a 900US$ region.
  • Homesteads (3750 Prim Regions) are selling CHEAP, because Linden Lab Increased the price a 66%, however you have to know what you will do with a region that costs 66% more.
Third
Check out mainland regions too.

If you want to sell land, mainland is a pretty good business that always will be good because its cheaper than estate land, BUT the price of a mainland region can reach 3000US$

Fourth
Make your place nice and with low lag.

  • Try to use low lag scripts, especially those that you will use tenths of time in that region, like door scripts or whatever, because a sim with 4 ms is nice, but when you will reach around 20 ms, it won’t be nice!
  • Use mega prims, let’s say you make a 10 floor skyscraper, each floor uses 30 prim without mega prims, and with mega prims 6 prims, you’ll use for 10 floors the prim count you would use for 2 floors without mega prims, so it’s not only economic, it’s less lag for the user.

Fifth and last

You need to have some knowledge or it will be a huge loss of money.

Cheers!
Happy Region Shopping!

Some shopping tips for the Credit Crisis

I want to give you some tips about what to shop, now when credit crisis wants to kill you, in my country the US Dollar is 45% higher so all my SL transactions have to be 45% lower.

1. Buy what you really want
If you see that all your friends have that fancy belt that you don’t really like, but you want to buy it because your friends have it and you would get bored of it in three days, just don’t buy it, even if its just 100L$.

2. Don’t buy fat-packs
Just don’t buy hair or clothing fat-packs, even if its 20% cheaper, it’s not worth it, just buy the colors you like.

3. Don’t give money away
This happens to all of us, we find some noob that wants 10LD, you give him and than he will ask you all your life for even more, that’s why you should NEVER give away money.

4. Check your alts.
Sometimes when your alts are in some groups that make you pay group liabilitieseven if your alt has 0L$ and makes you a negative balance that you have to pay, so be careful with groups, better leave them, because it happens that you have three or more alts in several groups and every alt has a -30L$ or even -70L$ balance.

5. Upgrade to premium membership
Even if it costs 9.95 USD a month it’s worth it, if you calculate how much you get for 9.95 it’s a good deal because

  • You get 300L$ per week, that means 1200L$ per month.
  • You get a 512 sq.m. land with 117 prims, that would be the equivalent (in acheap private estate) of a land that costs 819L$ a month.
  • 9.95 USD means around 2600L$ a month, you already get around 2,000L$back, and you still get live chat support.
  • And if you pay a whole year it would cost you 6 USD a month so that’s around 1600 L$ so thats a very good deal.

6. Leave your massive houses on very expansive land
You don’t need a 1000 prim house on a huge 8192 sq.m. land, i mean if you want to have nasty activities you can rent a cheap skybox or apartment, i mean youdon’t need a kitchen or toilet in SL, at least i enjoy more spending 15.000L$Shopping than paying tiers!

7. If you are bored
Go to public places like nightclubs, parks, Linden office hours, chat at telehubs.

8. Avoid drama stories, they could cost you thousands of L$
Don’t borrow money from other people, read carefully Terms of Service or Covenants so you don’t get in some trouble.

9. If you can’t afford it don’t buy it!
You saw that shiny 12,000L$ car that you totally love it but you have just 8,000L$, don’t ask your friends for money because you probably won’t be able to pay them really fast, wait some time until you buy it, if its worth it and if you would get bored of it!

10. Think about what you are buying!
See the product specifications, look at it from all possible angles, wait two days, go to the shop, see it again, and think if it’s really worth it!
